In partnership with the Sarafinah Sickle Cell Society (SASCELLS), Sickle Forward is bringing rapid diagnostics and life-saving care to infants and children with Sickle Cell Disease across the Rwenzori Region and beyond.
Through a grassroots partnership with SASCELLS and local health facilities, Sickle Forward is working to reduce the burden of Sickle Cell Disease by expanding access to early diagnosis, treatment, and community education.

Since the launch of the partnership with SASCELLS, Sickle Forward has continued to expand access to newborn screening and care across Uganda.
In 2025, more than 150,000 infants were screened across Sickle Forward's network, with over 2,500 children diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease and linked to life-saving care.
The goal is not simply to identify Sickle Cell Disease. It is to connect children and families to appropriate care after diagnosis.
